Description of Reiki

Reiki is a simple and effective means of healing that uses Universal Life Energy to help dissolve problems and return the body, mind, emotions and spirit to their natural, balanced state.  It is a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of hands-on healing that increases energy, reduces pain, produces deep relaxation and a general feeling of well-being.  The word Reiki originates from Rei, meaning Universal, and Ki (also known as Chi or Prana), meaning Life Energy.

The Reiki Healer thus channels Universal Life Energy through the hands into the receiver's body and energy field.  This usually occurs in a sequence of positions for around 2-5 minutes each, for a session that lasts about an hour.  More limited results can often be obtained quickly by focusing the hands directly on an area of physical discomfort.  During the Reiki healing session it is common for either the healer and/or the receiver to experience heat, tingling, deep peace, and other feelings ranging from subtle to intense.

Reiki can also transmitted through Distance Healing when the receiver is not physically present, as we are all connected by this Universal Life Energy.  And you do not have to be ill to benefit from receiving Reiki energy, as the physical, mental and emotional balance and spiritual growth that it provides accrue to anyone in any state of Being (and to the healer as well as the receiver).  Further information.

Practitioner Training

*David A. Pierce is a Level-III Reiki practitioner, presently studying to become a Reiki master (teacher).  As such, he has received a series of initiations or attunements to become a channel for the Reiki energy.  He practices Reiki within the Usui method of natural healing, which is the most common framework for the teaching and practice of Reiki and involves three levels or degrees.  Level I Reiki connects the practitioner to the Reiki channel, and as soon as a practitioner has been initiated the Universal Life Force healing energy begins to flow.  Level II Reiki strengthens this connection and teaches the practitioner long distance or remote healing.  Level III Reiki initiates the practitioner to become a Reiki Master and teacher. Each level requires its own set of attunements, and the Reiki initiations are for life.
